« For the opening of two new stores, Ikea was looking for a strong concept, unique and offering a big local visibility. While proposing an original and new experience to the public. The idea of opening pop-up stores in the heart of Mons & Hasselt turned out to be the obvious choice. For the originality ( creative interior design), the proximity (we approach our future clients directly) and the experience we could share (new and different experience that the one to live in the store). Based on a creative concept designed by DDB and in close collaboration with Initiative and Outdoor Services, IKEA asked Pop Media for the strategic choice of the locations of 6 pop-up stores in the heart of the 2 cities. IKEA opened to the public a « Design Galery » dedicated to the most iconic products of the brand. A « Toy Box » was opened for both older and younger children. Last but not least, a « Meatball Bar » proposed free degustation of the 3 IKEA meatball specialities. It turned out to be a huge success as we speak about 74.000 visitors who discovered the pop-up stores. The « Meatball Bar » distributed on average 1.000 meatballs per hour! An extern success but intern aswell, as the IKEA collaborators present on the pop-up stores could meet their future clients in a cosy and friendly atmosphere… Few days later, this experience turned out to be a real success during the opening of the IKEA stores ! »
